A Beary Educational Community

 

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The “Beary Educational Community” program aims to increase literacy among children ages 0-5 and their families, especially those from low-income households in the Los Angeles area. The program features a cast of friendly bear-costumed community members representing a wide array of cultures, languages, learning styles and disabilities found in all regions of the county. Supported by a mobile, interactive literacy lab, the Beary Educational Community is able to bring learning opportunities to children and their families in the places where they live, play and learn. The Bears’ numerous educational activities promote school readiness, parent-child communication and an understanding of many different methods of learning. While improving their literacy skills, children will learn more about themselves and their families and ultimately become more confident in their future classrooms.
