PROCESS TECHNOLOGY
SBCC first began Energy Pathways Program by working with a consortium of South Bay oil refineries to create a training curriculum and supply a pipeline of potential employees to fill in positions of retirees. Candidates competed amongst hundreds of applicants and those selected endured a challenging assessment process (see Recruitment Process Information). These selected participants are qualified to train in the comprehensive and compacted training curriculum.
EPP Graduates scored at the top of the application lists at companies like ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips, making EPP the most competitive honors program in Los Angeles County. This was the beginning of an all sector-driven chemical process operator training leading to jobs as process technicians. Due to the nature of the economy, EPP focuses on a pluralistic approach and invests training into currently growing industry sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, wastewater, potable water, water distribution, and petrochemical. The program is expanding into a 2 year training that will advance students with multiple-industry process plant certificates and the ability for students to earn an associate of science degree.
Our programs are supported by:
